I Really Don't Understand This Mindset. Ok, look—Michael Savage is an idiot and an asshole. I think what he said about 99% of autistic kids being brats and idiots is fucked up. His response to the criticism is absurd as well. But what I don't understand is why a group of protestors tried to have him fired. His opinions don't interfere with him doing his job, his opinions ARE his job. He's a radio talk show host—if you don't like what he's saying, don't listen to his show. It's that simple. Big update. We've been hitting the fringe festival HARD lately. Caught four days and 10 shows total. I seriously need to buy one of those passes because it is really expensive. More or less all the shows were good, but some were obviously better than others. I am bad with names so I won't be able to go into any great detail... but CRUMBS is always a winner, as well as this other show we saw called Hands Off. crying ... crying... heheheh you would have needed to see the show to understand that.
Anyways, we hit my buddy John's pool up yesterday after a round of golf. The golfing went really well, and my friend Danny got himself a photography job randomly from one of the guys we were on the course with. Good times! I left my bike there though, need to go pick that up tonight.
Soccer tonight again, hopefully we do a better job this game than the last. We were stomped 4-1. Not good. Wish me luck. PEI in 4 days! Woohoo. |

Rain Barrels? I'm looking to buy a rain barrel, but I can't find anything suitable that isn't ridiculously expensive or sold at a specialty store.
So...does anyone know where I could get a cheap, covered plastic drum to convert in to a rain barrel? It doesn't even need a tap, I can put that on myself, but I'd rather not shell out big bucks for something I might be able to find in a garbage bin.
[Hell...I guess I could just use a garbage bin...] |

Posting For A Friend A friend is looking for someone local who does website design +hosting I guess. She's currently without web access and I don't have time to search for her. She needs design +hosting but wants to administer the site herself if any of that helps. Suggestions? |

hey Winnipeg... What is the name of the sushi restaurant in Osbourne Village, and do they do gift certificates?
If not, any recommendations for a nice/different restaurant in the downtown/St B/Osbourne area? |

Key Cutting Is it possible to get a key cut anywhere at night? It seems I've missed most places, and searching for key cutting on Google is the most useless thing ever. Thanks. |

Car Rentals Since I don't have a car, I'm renting one this weekend for four days to go to an even that's out in St. Norbert. Enterprise will rent me one for four days for $88, which is half of what Avis would charge for three days. I've rented from Enterprise before and have had good experiences. Have you rented from any other places? What's the most affordable car rental place you've found? Current Mood: curious |

Oh No, We're Running Out Of Street Criminals! Hey, remember last month when I posted about three separate incidents in one week during which several unlucky criminals here in NYC tried to mug/beat/kill what they thought were defenseless citizens but instead turned out to be off-duty policemen, who then shot them? Well, there were a few more incidents last week as well: - In Brooklyn, an off-duty correction officer was wheeling his motorcycle into his garage when an armed man appeared and tried to steal the motorcycle. The officer pulled his own weapon and shot him in the cheek.
- In the Bronx, another off-duty corrections officer who was getting gas at 2am was approached by a man who suddenly entered the passenger side of the officer’s car, pulled a gun and demanded that the officer drive them away. The officer pulled his own weapon and fatally shot the suspect.
- In Queens, an off-duty police detective tried to stop four men who were beating someone. One of the attackers fired at the detective, who then pulled his own weapon and shot the suspect. The attackers ran away, but were found at a hospital and arrested.
This is what is known as a catastrophic failure in the victim-selection process. Please keep doing it. Current Music: Your Mistake - Agnostic Front |

Music Tuesday: Asian Child Prodigy Guitar Battle Yuto Miyazawa playing Crazy Train
VS.
"Crazy Asian Guitar Kid" playing something that sounds like U2
VS.
Some girl playing some classical stuff
Why do Asian kids kick ass at guitar? Scientists say it's because Asian languages rely heavily on tonal differences, which leads Asian kids to have perfect pitch. I say it's because Asians are the Master Race™ and are better at just about everything. The ones who can't play guitar win the "I'm Two Years Old And Can Sing Songs In A Different Language" contest. Even the ones who can't sing in other languages win the "This Is Probably What Bea Was Like As A Baby" award. And the hybrids have fancy footwork. When they grow up, they switch to ukulele. Tree planting I'd like to know if any of you have ever been tree planting in remote areas. If you have I'd love to hear all about your experiences. I understand that it's extremely difficult at times but still it's something I'm considering. I've found some information from these sites already but I'd really like to talk to someone who's done it themselves. http://www.outland.ca/planting/faqs/default.asphttp://www.dorseycontractinginc.com/tree_plant.htmlAny information you folks have on the subject will be appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

My eyes! I'm looking for sugar eyes to put on cakes, like the image below. I need about 100. I called a couple of cake stores with no luck, and went to Michaels at Polo where the girl helping me was utterly confused by my request. Does anyone know where I might find such a thing? Thanks! |

Wicked Elphaba Dress Anyone know of or is a good dress maker in the city? I'm going as The Wicked Witch of the West, or as I like to call her, (theatre buffs should know this) Elphaba, for Halloween. I have the green make up, found the hat on eBay, and all I need now is the dress. Current Mood: amused |

lame-o Does anyone know if there will be any Thursday (technically Friday) midnight showings of the new X-Files movie in the city? I tried various websites to no avail.
I guess it's pretty unlikely, but I need to ask, seeing as I've been waiting 10 years for it and all...
EDIT: Also, I must mention that My Winnipeg is totally whoring up the Google search results for things like 'winnipeg movie tickets'. |

Another post about Grand Forks Ok.. I looked at the last 350 posts, because I KNOW there was a post of "what to do in Grand Forks" and one about the amount you can bring back.....But gave up looking!
So this is short and sweet
Going for 2 nights next week. Correct me if I am wrong $200 worth of stuff per person can come back duty-free if 48 hours or more? What about food? (not fruits or veggies, just packaged stuff)
Things to see and do!
Thanks!
Again, sorry! |
